Developing Services for Newcomers
Whether your municipality is just beginning to look at immigration as an economic development tool or you have some experience under your belt, Bay Consulting can help define the next steps. Focus groups, interviews, background research and the consultant's experience will help frame a strategic plan that makes sense for your community. Strategic planning, public relations, fundraising and board development services are also available for smaller nonprofit organizations.
When you contract with Bay Consulting you will be working with the principal, Don Curry. He is the Executive Director of the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre and Co-Chair of the North Bay Newcomer Network, the city's Local Immigration Partnership project. The centre and NNN have earned a Northern Ontario Business Award, two Newcomer Champion Awards from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, and the centre was named Nonprofit of the Year in North Bay in 2010.
If you need to know if your community is receptive to increased immigration, or if the current immigrant population has some ideas on how to help you achieve your goals, Bay Consulting can help. Projects to create a welcoming community should precede an immigrant attraction campaign. Make sure your community is ready for increased numbers of newcomers. If it isn't, they won't stay.
